It will be the first public showing of the video. The show is being sponsored by the Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce and admission is $5. tonight at Bangor Elks Lodge #1106 at 120 Broadway. Turtzo was chairman of the Homefront reunion committee, which held a 50th anniversary celebration last year commemorating the magazine and the end of the war. ![]() The nearly two-hour film was put together by Bob Mistishen, who owns an advertising agency in Roseto, and Bangor resident and real estate broker/appraiser Edmund “Chip” Turtzo. From footage of Pearl Harbor being bombed by the Japanese to Mona Strunk, who, along with her husband, Horace, published Homefront from 1942 to 1945, the video is a collage of history. Their poignant stories capture the mood of a nation at war, and serve as remembrance to the men and women who died in the name of freedom. This ten-minute color film program depicted bomber production and encouraged women to do all they could for the war effort when production was slowed by a labor shortage. ![]() It was shot at the Willow Run B-24 Liberator Bomber plant near Ann Arbor, Michigan. The second was a 1943 film titled Women on the Warpath, produced by Ford Motor Company. The ten-minute newsreel documented how the nation’s capital was coping with the war, including a doubling of the population.
